SKY CAPTAIN
Inspired by the innovations of commercial space travel, my
objective was to combine innovative, or unconventional
materials with traditional knitting fibers. I was particularly
interested in creating a very textured knit silhouette using leather yarn which I had custom made. To that end, I created a hand knit leather jacket with an original aran pattern as the main piece in this group.
Knitting fibers used are leather, stainless steel, merino wool, cotton and silk. Embellishments were added through
hand-painting and beading.
