For this up-dated Pop Art inspired group, I combined strips of black plastic trash bags with remnants of natural fibers such as; alpaca, cotton, merino wool and silk, to create 60’s Mod inspired silhouettes. Current pop culture symbols (specifically hashtags) are highlighted as crochet and painted embellished details. My use of disposable plastic trash bags and remnant or scrap
materials to create this up-dated take on pop art, highlights our current disposable culture, while also referencing the so-called “throwaway plastic culture” of the 60’s.

This collection was created for and exhibited at “Pixels”, an art show by RAW Natural Born Artists in Brooklyn, NY in January 2014.
