Medium Leather Satchel

Medium Leather Satchel
The very first leather satchel that I ever made. This was my first prototype for this design, which features a saddle flap and swing clasp closure. It has been used to test the wear of this design over a period of time, and has held up quite well. It was made from leftover leather from a shoe company. Although there are some signs of wear, the leather has aged quite beautifully . All seam have been re-stitched with strong and durable nylon thread, and all hardware has been replace with newer ones. This bag fits a sketchbook or 13” laptop, along with a few other essentials. The strap which measures 32” from end to end (12.5" shoulder drop), is fastened with nylon thread and two rivets at each end, it also features top stitching along the length. Fun Fact… The punched hole detail on the flap came about as an attempt to mask scratch marks on the surface of the leather. The pattern of the holes follow the pattern of the original scratch marks. his bag has been cleaned and treated with mink oil.
*Regular oiling with mink oil will protect the leather from external abrasions from salt, water, snow etc.
